Frequently Asked Questions

  • Where Are You Located?

We are located in Syracuse, New York on the corner of Teall Avenue and Grant Boulevard. Our address is 104 Fordham Road Syracuse, New York 13203

  • My Loved One Passed Away, What Happens Next?

Give us a call, we are available 24/7.  You will immediately be put in touch with one of our compassionate and knowledgeable funeral directors. They will begin by collecting some basic information. When possible our directors will drive to wherever your loved one is and bring them into our care. On a day and time of your choosing, the director who took your call will meet with you to discuss the type of memorialization that is right for your loved one and family. They will also walk you through all the necessary paperwork. Our director can come to your home or you're always welcome to come to ours in Eastwood.

  • Can I Plan or Pay Ahead?

Yes! Planning ahead with Syracuse Simplicity ensures your family and or friends are aware of your wishes. Pre-planning also allows you to work with a funeral director to design a tribute that best captures the type of person you are.  Give us a call or fill out our preplan form and we can begin the process of prepaying and/or preplanning for your cremation.

  • What should I wear to a funeral?

This really depends on the family and the person who has died. Think about the person who died and what they would have wanted you to wear. When in doubt, a dress shirt/blouse,  dress pants/dress, jacket and tie are the safest option.

  • Can I see my loved one before they’re cremated?

If you would like to see your loved one before they’re cremated without having a formal viewing, we can arrange a private time of goodbye for a small group of immediate family. You’ll be able to spend some time with your loved one and say goodbye. This can be a very healing moment and we encourage all of our families to do this.

  • How does cremation work?

Cremation uses heat, much like an oven does, to reduce the body to the ashes most people are familiar with. The oven reaches temperatures between 1400 and 1800 degrees Fahrenheit to accomplish this.

  • Do you cremate at your locations?

No. New York State prohibits funeral and cremation providers from owning and or operating a cremation unit (the equipment used to cremate your loved one). It also prohibits a Crematory (a company that operates cremation units) from working directly with families. Because of this families must contact a cremation provider like Syracuse Simplicity to handle and arrange for the cremation of their loved ones.

  • How do I know it’s really my loved one’s ashes?

Cremation is an irreversible process that does not leave behind any form of DNA. Because of this we take extreme care to make sure everyone in our care is properly identified. When your loved one is brought into our care they will receive an id ankleband, additionally they will receive a stainless steel disc on a bracelet with a unique identification number. This steel disc will survive the cremation process and stay with your loved one’s ashes, that way there will never be any doubt. Syracuse Simplicity is the only cremation provider in Syracuse that uses this ”double”  method of identification.
