Michelle “Doll Baby” Owens
Michelle Owens, known affectionately as “Doll Baby,” 58, of Syracuse, passed away April 27, 2026.
Born September 17, 1967, in Buffalo, Michelle was known for her warm spirit, kind heart, and radiant smile. She touched many lives through her love, compassion, and ability to make others feel welcomed and valued.
Above all, Michelle was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Frank Jones, Jeannette “China” Jones, Brandon Owens, and Indy Owens. Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: A’Nylah McDowell, Ian Owens, Nahdia Owens, Ava Saunders, Carter Owens, Kenji Owens, and Irie Hanks, who brought her immense pride and joy. She is also remembered by her “Cole,” Nicole Johnson, and Antonio Saunders.
Michelle was predeceased by her mother, Gwendolyn Alfreda Winstead; her grandparents, Louise Winstead and Frank B. Winstead; and her sister, Anita Winstead. She is survived by her siblings: Lasans Kirkland, Darrell Winstead, Mabel “Neicy” Winstead, Darlene Handley, Justina Owens, Desiree Bradley, and Acena Lane; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She also leaves to cherish her memory her “baby mother,” Babette Baker, and her lifelong friend and children’s godmother, Jerelyn Pope.
Michelle will be remembered for her deep love for family and friends and for the joy she brought into every room. Her legacy of love and strength will continue to live on in all who knew her.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Greater New Testament Missionary Baptist Church, 1121 S. Salina St., Syracuse 13202.
